Aim: What if you could see through terrorists' clothes to detect hidden weapons? Or look to see how a volcano is changing underneath all the cloud and smoke? Advances in millimetre wave imaging technology allow you to do just that. The aim of the project was to address all these questions in a touring exhibition. All the usual criteria were important like portability, ease of setup and robustness.

What we did: The touring exhibition was developed over quite a long time with a lot of prototyping and the final result was a hugely successful exhibition that is still in use today.All the way through the process we consulted with education professionals - aiming to tie our messages into the curriculum wherever possible. We engaged professional evaluators to speak to our audiences and find out what worked and what didn't.The exhibition includes many elements such as graphic and software design - there are presentations, an IR camera, various imagers and small interactives as well as some working radars and large-scale interactives.Different elements of the exhibition can be used for different purposes and it breaks down into small touring workshops that can be transported using just a normal-sized car.
