Bird Boxes

Aim: To build some sensor-driven interactives that are battery powered and wall mountable.
What we did: FifeX teamed up with Stuco to produce a set of small wall-mounted bird boxes. Being light and small, they fixed easily to the walls - this allowed FifeX to work entirely off-site which kept costs to a minimum.FifeX used IR and light sensors and bespoke firmware to control the boxes - 2 of them illuminate images and 2 play audio files from inside the boxes.The bird boxes run from battery power making them ideal for the outdoors or buildings where no power is installed.Although it wasn't required in this case, this system could easily be made with sounds on a flash card so they could be changed quickly and easily at any time without needing to involve FifeX.For construction, these are made in ply which can be laser cut, so you can get creative with your shapes!
